Create you own safe space. As I write this¹ we are living in a very unsafe time. It’s paramount that we create our own spaces to play in, to speak freely in, to dream big in. A place where there is no room for fear or judgment. This can be bdsm sessions, hosting gatherings, building community, making music in your room, writing in your journal or just calling a loved one up and having an honest conversation. If you are being censored, silenced or deleted on other platforms, create your own website and write freely there. The more destructive the world outside us becomes, the more we have to create our own sanctuaries and islands. If you feel called, create a lighthouse on your island, broadcast your voice, so that other like-minded safe folx can find you.
Go offline. Don’t get stuck in the doom scroll. Remember, the more you consume, the less time you have to create or just be. Take as long a break as you need from social media and your phone. These are weapons of mass distraction. Put it in a lock box. Or put it on do not disturb. See how long you can go without checking your phone.
